The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 看之前认为老崔演这种题材会不会大材小用了，其他人配合不好，但是看到一半发现搭配的恰到好处。前半段剧情以为是心灵捕手结果后半段更像是闻香识女人。除了南北问题的点比较突兀之外，整体其实还算可以，最后老崔转变的剧情设计也是比较僵硬，实属遗憾。整体风格还是非常温暖的，值得一看。
7个囚徒中唯一走出的被拉拢成新的剥削者，反抗的力量难以凝聚。导演或许在借用囚徒处境影射巴西社会困境，偏现实主义风格还是蛮喜欢的。
韩国电影现在连数学领域都要涉及到南北关系，要不就显得没有深度，好久没看崔老师的表演了，还是那么稳，还是那么到位。
除去生硬的表演和意识形态，压缩成一半时长的电影会更好，或许会达到积极的基础科学的宣传。
瑕不掩瑜。 让所有初心回归最质朴的部分，这才是我们做一件事的真谛，一切都为了钱的时代不知道什么时候会过去。。。
内容有点深刻，类似盲山？穷人有真正的自由吗？

评分这么低？这是我22年第一季度以来看过的最佳电影。
忠武路日常黑北边和自己！反正什么题材都能转到这话题上，真不浪费半岛独一无二的政治格局啊！崔岷植长相不太像北棒黄政民要像些吧！

任何世界未解之谜都可以从北朝鲜人身上找到答案，韩国电影扯淡到极致，崔佬还是认真答题了。
而主角，主角只要选错一步就是万丈深渊，问题不是他这个阶层能解决的。
