The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 华语院线第一部“剧本杀电影”吧，真的讨论剧本，当然几年前开始写剧本时肯定不是以剧本杀的噱头为目的，更可能是想拍中国的《利刃出鞘》，且是冒着很大的投资失败风险去拍的。我看之前避开了一切剧透，事先不知道几乎没有外景，全是室内对话戏，所以看到中间有点犯困，要是调度再漂亮点、节奏再紧凑点就好了。但到后半段，尤其余皑磊那个“灭火者”角色的几番话，说掌权者最怕的是“记忆”，他要负责扑灭星星之火，一下子把我震清醒了，牛逼。就冲这结尾也要为这部有勇气、有思考的电影点个赞。陈明昊和邓恩熙的表演略欠佳。
一路玩梗，认出来一些，肯定错过了更多，

有些地方确实能让人发笑，但更多时候我却只是在叹气。好在几处反转比较奏效，而片尾的部分或多或少也能看到导演的野心。
平淡得非常纯粹，是在以后某一个安静的晚上会拿出来重看的电影。
被离婚的单身女人，带着两个孩子，之前没有工作经验，人生重启……这样的故事，法国人拍出就可以这样，一点都不酸楚，依然的浪漫，依然的优雅，依然的温馨，亲情爱情工作一样不缺，生活就应该是这样的！
李家辉等人既借助电影揭露了黑幕，同时也没有破坏齐乐山的计划。
从老秦的演技开始崩，后面逐渐都崩了，整体台词演技有些撑不起来，悬疑和反转就还可以，张本煜有点王千源的感觉啊演的不错
一些漫不经心的小事，一些轻盈浪漫的文艺感，注入深沉浓烈的个人情绪，别有一番风味
竟然能【在商业片语境下】有意识在讨论“摄影机是什么”，【重申是商业通俗电影语境下】。很多微小的惊喜之处，尤其那句“最可怕的东西是记忆”。提及新闻业的功能，电影的社会意义，对性犯罪的借古喻今，都很勇敢。笑点很多千禧年之后的流行文化梗，挺戳我（
作为导演刘循子墨银幕处女作就选择喜剧+悬疑的类型商业片，难度系数可谓直接拉满，不好笑或不抓人，影片都有可能直接歇菜。好在《扬名立万》拿捏好了这两种类型车轮的平衡，让观众观影过程一路顺畅。
3.5 导演音乐品味真好/脆弱的 特别的 夏洛特甘斯布/我一直知道 你爱我/虽然围绕城市展开 很多镜头也聚焦于城市的夜晚 但丢了夏日感悟中幽灵般的subtlety 没有那么迷人
《扬名立万》其实有一个夜莺复仇操控全局视角：夜莺父亲在远征军印度作战时战死，原因是军政部贪污，前线补给出问题了——李编剧报道了军政部贪污案，夜莺得知真相——夜莺了解了贪污案的背后是三老——夜莺利用齐乐山复仇，主动勾引三老，并引导齐乐山杀人后掩护自己逃离现场，齐乐山抵罪——夜莺没料到一群无聊电影人要拍这个题材，怕事情暴露，主动报案，让军政部的人去处理这群电影人——夜莺发现电影人们跑到了越南，就继续跟到越南——最后斡旋制造了越南撞船事件，让所有电影人覆灭，也就是片尾报社小孩说的那个新闻。
本来想给两星，一星给演员，一星给立意。但是电影最后“你觉得观众看的懂吗，没关系我们做了我们应该做的事，我相信我们的电影能留下来”。自己拍的烂观众还看不懂呗。太恶心人了。
不寻常，而且脆弱，像你一样。法式柔软，冬天壁炉火光前一头埋进羊毛衫里深吸一口毛绒的舒适。敬有你们陪着的快乐。
摄影，穿搭，色彩，音乐，那些很随意但又温暖的细节，都直击我心。除了侯麦好久没看到如此舒适的电影了，如沐春风，看完整个人变得暖洋洋，内心平静又充满了力量。“这和我刚开始期待的生活不太一样，但我还是尽力去热爱它了不是吗”。
中年女性成长史 很平静的讲述 坠入情绪里感到舒适
无数的生活，交织在巴黎夜色下，流淌在午夜电波中，无需言语，无尽浪漫。谁不是夜归人，在孤单的路上，自由的孤单。当他们随着音乐轻轻摇晃，我想起萨冈的那句“幸运的是，人生匆匆，我在这里，你在这里。我们共舞”。
应该是我很喜欢的类型的电影，之后我要自己再看一遍。
