The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 还没看书，但是后面真的被感动到了。一部很温情的电影。

个人认为评分低了，看到中间有一种如鲠在喉的感觉。虽然有悲伤，有离别，有鸡毛蒜皮的烦恼，但是本来这部电影描述的就是一个童话的世界，而非残酷的现实。最近失恋了，虽然电影里的描绘并不多，但能够通过很多细节感受到早濑同学是个很可靠值得托付的人。而且每个爸爸妈妈都是用自己的方式来爱优子，也因为优子的存在填补了人生的空缺，美好到让人羡慕。

女主像个物品一样被传递。后妈的爱不能认同！
故作幽默的幽默，冷面笑匠的设定对影片的加成作用并不明显，反而让中间好几场戏的节奏变得有点怪。不过结尾挽回一城，开放式的设定给这个故事的立意上了一个台阶。我知道我还是我，但我却没法控制让我爱的人还继续爱我，他们爱的只是想象中的那个我而已。细细一想其实是个挺伤感的故事，脱离了科幻惊悚设定反倒对现实产生了更多的观照。

3.5分。这种属于我明知道你是个不合逻辑的烂片但我还是看哭了的范畴。其实叙事方法还是挺巧妙的，很多镜头拍的也不错，但全员烂好人真滴很离谱。
还是拍得很还原小说的，电影画面呈现出来的效果比文字更让人感动。森宫爸爸真的好亚撒西的一个人🥲🥲小嘤也超可爱
虽然真的大扯淡，但是很好看诶，作为女儿看到结尾狠狠哭了。田中圭太yasaxi，很想做他小孩试试看。这番重国人不能理解的大怨种剧情，但是如果是十元和咩酱的话也可以接受了（并没有）
原作吃甜品的好多片段好像都没拍出来，剧情过于紧凑走马灯一样…十元女士感觉只有一个表情……
这部影片的故事不寻常，或者说是非常小概率事件。给出一种可能性，在一个人的童年，即使被迫离开父母，经历多个家庭生活，依然可以不造成阴影，健康成长。理想化得很难被相信。但是永野芽郁好美，就应该幸福吧？！

相比较小说来讲，电影有点夸张，特别是继母梨花的情感和装扮上面的反差，有点不真实······情感上小说会更细腻。
